A Step-by-Step Guide

Is it time to get your DCBC ticket renewed? Here is a step-by-step guide of what you need to renew your certification as an Unrestricted Surface Supplied Diver or an Occupational SCUBA diver.

If you are a newly graduated diver, you must renew your DCBC certification after two years and you only have to pay half the renewal fee!   After first renewal, DCBC certifications must be renewed every 5 years. Renewal ensures that divers and diving supervisors have adequate skills and knowledge to do their job safely.

This is a breakdown of items you need to have in order to renew your DCBC Certification.

Unrestricted Surface Supplied Diver:

The Unrestricted Surface Supplied Diver certification allows divers to dive to 50 metres using surface-supplied diving equipment. Submit these documents for DCBC renewal:

  • A scan of photo ID (passport or driver’s license) to verify date of birth and identity
  • A scan of your current workplace First Aid certificate, including CPR and AED
  • A scan of your current Oxygen Therapy certificate (DiveSafe offers this course online!)
  • A scan of your current Diving Medical
  • Copies of at least 50 surface-supplied dives as a diver or supervisor in the last 5 years. If your logs are not stamped, remember to include your employer’s contact information. If you are renewing and do not have 50 logged dives, you may use tending activities. For more information, please contact DCBC.
  • A recent passport-style photograph of yourself. This picture must have a plain white or neutral background. You should not be wearing a hat or sunglasses.
  • Renewal fee of $330.00 using a credit card or PayPal when you submit your renewal application. If you would like to use interac eTransfer, you may send it to tpark@divercertification.com.

Occupational SCUBA Diver:

The Occupational SCUBA Diver certification allows you to dive on self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (SCUBA). Submit these documents to renew your DCBC certification:

  • A scan of photo ID (passport or driver’s license) to verify date of birth and identity
  • A scan of your current workplace First Aid certificate, including CPR and AED
  • A scan of your current Oxygen Therapy certificate (DiveSafe offers this course online!)
  • A scan of your current Diving Medical
  • 50 logged SCUBA dives as a diver or supervisor during the past 5 years. If you are renewing your Unrestricted Surface Supplied DCBC certification, your SCUBA diver endorsement is included in that. If you are renewing and do not have 50 logged dives, you may use tending activities. For more information, please contact DCBC.
  • A recent passport-style photograph of yourself. This picture must have a plain white or neutral background. You should not be wearing a hat or sunglasses.
  • Renewal fee of $220.00 using a credit card or PayPal when you submit your renewal application. If you would like to use interac eTransfer, you may send it to tpark@divercertification.com.
